Aphantasia is the inability to form mental images of objects that are not present. In short, it is the inability to truly visualize in images. Those with Aphantasia may or may not have a visual memory, and may interact with it in very different ways.
For example, I have a very robust visual memory, but I can only access it through descriptions of what I have seen previously. I do not think in images, I think in streams of data, and in data sourced from my other senses - smell, hearing, taste, and touch.
